Students interested in participating in the Research Experience Program should contact their departments for more information.

About the Research Experience Program

The Research Experience Program (REP) is one of three undergraduate certificate programs at KU aimed at providing official recognition of an identified experience on a student’s academic transcript.  The other two are the Global Awareness Program http://www.international.ku.edu/gap/ and the in Service Learning Program http://www.servicelearning.ku.edu/certification.shtml.  REP provides KU students with a unique learning opportunity grounded in KU’s role as a major national research university.

Academic departments and programs are responsible for the following:

  1. Designate a faculty member to serve as the unit's REP contact;
  2. Identify courses in the curriculum that can be used to meet the Research/Creative Competency component of the REP; and
  3. Approve discipline-specific research projects for the Independent Research/Creative project component of the REP.
Faculty members are invited and encouraged to serve as advisors to students completing the Independent Research/Creative component of the REP. The unit REP contact should provide the REP coordinator with a list of the department's REP courses and approved discipline-specific research projects.
