Joanne Altieri is assistant vice provost and director of research administration, effective July 1, 2009. Responsibilities of the position include management of Proposal Services, Contract Negotiations, Post-Award Services and Facilities.  .

Altieri has been at Iowa State University since 2006 as director of the Office of Sponsored Projects. She previously worked for 17 years in progressively more responsible research administration roles at KU.  She was assistant vice provost for research and director of contract negotiations and research compliance before leaving in 2005 to serve a year in the Peace Corps.

Her background includes a B.A. degree in Spanish from KU, as well as secondary teaching certification.  She is continuing graduate work toward a master’s degree at Baker University.
