Updates on the Lawrence campus from the Vice Provost for Research — August 2006

90 Undergraduate Students Receive Research Certification

The university recently certified 90 undergraduate students as completing the Research Experience Program (REP).

The REP is a new undergraduate certification program established in 2005. Student interest in the program is increasing.

"I was surprised by the number of students who participate in undergraduate research on this campus," says John Augusto, research training coordinator.  "REP is more than just completing the research; it certifies students who are willing to take discipline-specific coursework to ground their research training. Each student must complete the research and present the research/scholarship to a larger audience.”

A formal list of the students and their disciplines will be released later this month. For more information on the REP, contact John Augusto, research training coordinator, jaugusto@ku.edu or 864-7351.
