Higuchi-Endowment Research Achievement Award Nominations Sought
The Research Achievement Award program was established in 1981 by the late Regents Distinguished Professor of Chemistry and Pharmacy Takeru Higuchi and his wife, Mrs. Aya Higuchi, and the KU Endowment Association.
The awards, which honor four benefactors of the university, recognize significant research achievement by Kansas Board of Regents tenure-track faculty in the following areas:
- Balfour Jeffrey Research Award in the field of the Humanities and Social Sciences;
- Olin Petefish Research Award in the field of Basic Sciences;
- Dolph Simons Research Award in the field of Biomedical Sciences; and
- Irvin Youngberg Research Award in the field of Applied Sciences.
Each $10,000 Higuchi award may be expended over five years in support of research activities.
The call for nominations, including specific criteria for each award, is available at http://www.research.ku.edu/news/news/2006/_09/2006-higuchi.pdf. Nominations are due Friday, Dec. 8. The high caliber of these awards can only be maintained if KU’s research community notifies the Office of the Vice Provost for Research of people who are doing outstanding research. Please consider nominating a colleague for one of these awards.
