Warren Named Interim Vice Provost for Research and Graduate Studies; Roberts Completes Decade with Research Center

Steve Warren, director of the Schiefelbusch Institute for Life Span Studies, will become interim vice provost for research and graduate studies in August.

Rosen Named Associate Vice Provost and Dean of Graduate Studies

Sara Thomas Rosen, professor and chair of the Department of Linguistics, has been named associate vice provost and dean of graduate studies.

FY2008 General Research Fund Award Recipients Announced

Research Integrity to Host Brown Bag Workshop on Conflict of Interest

The workshop will provide an overview of COI policies, procedures, and strategies for managing potential conflicts when they do arise. The workshop will be held at noon on Wednesday, August 29, in the Apollo Room of Nichols Hall on KU's west campus.

New Procedure in Effect for Grant Proposals to NIH and NSF Which Include Research Involving Vertebrate Animals

Within one month of submitting grant proposals to the NIH or NSF (or NIH/NSF flow-through funding), researchers are now expected to submit to the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee an animal use statement that corresponds to the research involving vertebrate animals included in the grant proposal.

Clarification of Procedures for KU-Lawrence Researchers Working with the KUMC Human Subjects Committee

University officials on the KU-Lawrence and Medical Center campuses have approved a collaborative mechanism so that research involving human participants at KUMC or on both campuses needs to be approved by the human subjects committee on only one campus.

Institute Offers Life Science Funding Opportunity

The Kansas City Area Life Sciences Institute (KCALSI), the coordinating body for the Kansas City region’s life science research initiatives, recently released a request for proposals (RFP) for the Research Development Grant Program.
