Ft. Leavenworth Commander to speak on "Changing face of warfare"
Lt. General William B. Caldwell IV, commanding general of the U.S. Army Combined Arms Center and Ft. Leavenworth, will speak at the Dole Institute of Politics Wed., Nov. 14, at 7:30 p.m. on “The Changing Face of Warfare in the 21st Century." His presentation is co-sponsored by the KU-Ft. Leavenworth Program and is free and open to the public.
Caldwell oversees the Command and General Staff College at Ft. Leavenworth and 17 other schools and training centers throughout the country. The Combined Arms Center is responsible for development of the Army’s doctrinal manuals, training of officers and integration of battle command systems and concepts.
Previously, Caldwell was deputy chief of staff for strategic effects and spokesperson for the Multi-National Force in Iraq. He has also served as commanding general of the 82nd Airborne Division and as senior military assistant to the deputy secretary of defense.
“The general earned a reputation for straight talk and keen insight while spokesman in Iraq,” said Jonathan Earle, interim director of the Dole Institute. “Now responsible for educating the next generation of Army leaders, his visit promises to be a compelling evening.”
The KU-Ft. Leavenworth Program provides advanced-degree opportunities for faculty and students at the Command and General Staff College. The Office of Research and Graduate Studies administers the program.
