The Higuchi-Endowment Association Research Achievement Awards honor outstanding researchers each year. This year's awards honored four professors from Kansas universities who have made great strides in their respective fields.
The award winners come from a pool of individuals who are nominated by faculty and staff at Kansas Regents institutions. Nomination of outstanding candidates is vital. Please take time to nominate a worthy colleague after reviewing the criteria and nomination instructions.
Nominations of individual researchers will be accepted until Dec. 7.
Previous years' nominations remain active for five years and are considered along with new nominees in each year's review and recommendation process. Past Higuchi Award winners may be re-nominated 10 years after receving their awards. The names of nominees and their nominators will not be disclosed, and all nominating materials will remain confidential.
Designed to recognize significant research achievement, these awards were first presented in the fall of 1982. Each award of $10,000 (on deposit with the Kansas University Endowment Association) may be expended over five years in support of research activities in the form of research materials, summer salary, fellowship matching funds, equipment, research assistants or any other purpose that is consonant with the advancement of the individual's research program. Each award will be given to a deserving Kansas Board of Regents faculty member by the Chancellor upon the recommendation of the Vice Provost for Research and Graduate Studies.
