Art reception to celebrate works of three faculty artists
"Art @ MRB" returns for a second year to display the art installations of Carol Ann Carter, Gerald Lubensky and Alison Luoma. The reception will be held on Nov. 16.

GIS Day returns to KU
The sixth annual campus symposium focusing on Geographic Information Systems and various applications of spatial data and software will feature speakers on open-source vs. commercial GIS tools and an information fair.

Preparing Future Faculty accepts nominations
PFF, with the help of its institutional partners, provides doctoral students with personal experiences at a variety of academic institutions. Through the PFF course and workshops, PFF helps students navigate their entrance into academia and plan their futures.

Higuchi award nominations sought
The Higuchi-Endowment Association Research Achievement Awards honor outstanding researchers each year. RGS is looking for nominations of worthy recipients for these $10,000 awards.

Ft. Leavenworth Commander to speak on "Changing face of warfare"
Lt. General William B. Caldwell IV will speak at the Dole Institute of Politics Wed., Nov. 14, at 7:30 p.m. on “The Changing Face of Warfare in the 21st Century".  His presentation is co-sponsored by the KU-Ft. Leavenworth Program.

KU-Ft. Leavenworth Program roundtable Nov. 15-16
The KU-Ft. Leavenworth Program will host an academic roundtable at the Dole Institute of Politics.  Presenters will include U.S. and foreign military personnel, as well as KU faculty experts on cultural and political issues encountered by U.S. forces deployed overseas.

Entrepreneurship Week/USA dates set for 2008
Universities and other organizations worldwide are encouraged to hold events related to entrepreneurship during the week of Nov. 17-23, 2008.  KU plans to participate, in cooperation with technology transfer partners, faculty and students.

Postdoc manual approved; NPA site visit Nov. 14
The KU Postdoctoral Training Manual has been reviewed and approved by Provost Lariviere. National Postdoctoral Association (NPA) has chosen KU as the location for a site visit on Wed., Nov. 14.
