Art reception successful; works on display year-round

Four artists and about 150 people gathered on Nov. 16 to celebrate the installation of works at "Art @ MRB" on Nov. 16.

The reception allowed attendees the opportunity to view both the art and the MRB facility, as well as gain knowledge of the pieces directly from the artists. The works of Carol Ann Carter, Gerald Lubensky and Alison Luoma are now on display to the public, as well as the art of Matthew Burke, which was installed last year.

Megan Gannon, graphics coordinator for Research and Graduate Studies, said the event, in its second year, was a way to tie in artwork with the largest research building on campus.

"The event is a public acknowledgement that research extends beyond hard sciences," Gannon said. "The thought process goes hand-in-hand with the creativity involved in creating a work of art."

Thanks go out to Carter, Lubensky and Luoma for their participation in the event, as well as to Gannon and Dawn Guernsey, chair of the Department of Art for their roles in the success of the event.

To view the art, visit the MRB at 2030 Becker Dr. between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. on weekdays. Stop by the front desk first for a brochure on the artists and their works.
