RGS Convocation to be held Jan. 29
The program will include updates on both research and graduate education at KU, and will feature presentations by three faculty members on the integration of research and graduate training in their respective fields.  A question and answer session will be followed by a reception.

Kansas Bioscience Authority hosts reception, State Capitol event
The “Kansas Bioscience Day Kickoff Reception” will be held Jan. 15 in Topeka, with exhibits in the Capitol the next day. The events are designed to bring legislators and other state leaders together with bioscience researchers and businesses to mark past progress and look to the future.  

National conference includes graduate student paper competition
KU will host the Feb. 8-9 event. The conference, “Nuestra America in the U.S.?,” coincides with the launching of a new KU academic minor in U.S. Latino/a studies.

KU Bioentrepreneurship Symposium Feb. 9 to feature prominent alumnus
The symposium is designed to introduce students to bioscience entrepreneurship. The event features key note remarks from Randy Scott, chairman and CEO of Genomic Health.

KU graduate student wins Kauffman Foundation dissertation fellowship
Shane Moser is one of 16 recipients nationwide of a fellowship from the Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation. They are awarded to current Ph.D. students who are engaged in the study of entrepreneurship at U.S. universities. 

NCURA 2008 workshops beginning
The National Council of University Research Administrators (NCURA) has announced the NCURA TV 2008 Workshop Series schedule, with presentations in January, March, June and September. The series will begin on Jan. 22.
